The Beginning of a Big Love

It’s been just over two weeks since our wedding day, and I finally feel ready to share what it was really like to plan it all.

When Jared and I got engaged last October, we had no idea how much would go into planning a destination wedding — the decisions, the emotions, the countless spreadsheets. But if there’s one thing I knew, it was that I didn’t want a traditional ballroom or anything that didn’t feel us.

From the very beginning, we both knew we wanted to create an experience — not just a ceremony. Something timeless, romantic, and full of character.

Choosing a Destination

By January, we were deep into location research: Italy, Canada, Colorado, New York — you name it, we looked at it.

There was even a moment I was convinced we’d found the one in upstate New York. The venue was a literal castle on Heart Island (yes, that’s the real name). But logistically, it became impossible — ceremonies only, freezing temperatures, multiple boats required.

Then my sister Giovi mentioned Mexico City. At first, I said no. But after a little convincing — and explaining to Jared that it offered the same European charm without the nine-hour flight — we booked a scouting trip.

Twenty-one venues later, we found it.
Palacio Metropolitano.

Built in the 1870s, it carries the romance of Versailles but with the soul of Mexico. The French-inspired architecture, soaring ceilings, and intricate detailing instantly captured our hearts. The best part? It didn’t need heavy décor — the venue itself was the statement.

Why October 12

Timing was everything.
We knew we wanted a long weekend to make travel easier for family and friends, and Sunday, October 12 landed perfectly on the Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples’ Day weekend.
Schools and banks were closed Monday, giving our guests an extra travel day — and giving us the perfect excuse to stretch the celebration into a full weekend.

The Reality of a Destination Wedding

Planning a wedding abroad sounds dreamy — and it truly was — but it also comes with a few realities no one prepares you for.

We made three separate trips to Mexico City before the big day: one for venue scouting, another for hotel blocks and logistics, and one for tastings, makeup and hair trials, and final meetings.

Since our venue wasn’t attached to a hotel or resort, we had to source each vendor ourselves — florals, rentals, lighting, catering, photography, and entertainment. That’s where having planners you deeply trust becomes everything.

And a little note on finances — currency conversions can be tricky. Sending international wire transfers is nerve-wracking, even with the best team. Always verify vendor legitimacy, use secure contracts, and stage payments over time.

Tools That Made It Easier

If you’re planning a destination wedding, these tools truly saved us:

  • Joint Gmail account & shared calendar — We lived in that inbox! Every meeting, file, and guest list lived there.
  • Zola — The MVP. We managed RSVPs, meal selections, our registry, and even our digital Save the Dates through it.
  • Postable — A lifesaver for collecting addresses and sending thank-you cards directly through the site.
  • WhatsApp — Our main communication tool for guests while abroad.

Guest List & RSVP Surprises

Our planners reminded us early on that roughly 20% of invitees won’t attend, and they were right. We invited around 390 guests and ended up with 170 — the perfect size for a destination wedding.

A month before the event, our planners recommended hiring an external team to reconfirm RSVPs, and I’m so glad we did. Even confirmed guests sometimes change plans, and those updates helped us adjust our catering count and save significantly.

The key takeaway: Don’t take declines personally — life happens.

Styling the Weekend

Fashion was one of my favorite parts of the process — and the most personal. I didn’t go into it with a “bridal vision,” but each event became a chance to tell a different story through style.

🌸 Bridal Shower: Feminine florals and soft shimmer.
🌴 Bachelorette: Playful resort glam for our “Wife Lotus” weekend.
Rehearsal Dinner: Structured sophistication with subtle sparkle.
🤍 Wedding Morning: A sentimental robe, hair pinned, butterflies everywhere.
💫 Ceremony: Lace, pearls, long sleeves, and a removable overskirt — timeless and completely me.
💃 Second Look: Sleek and modern for the dance floor.

Every piece was thoughtfully chosen — not just for beauty, but for how it made me feel.

And for those asking — yes, I’ll be selling select pieces from my bridal era (including looks from my shower, rehearsal dinner, and more) on our site soon. Each piece has a story, and I can’t wait for them to find a new home.

What I’d Do Differently

  • Start tracking your budget in one place from day one.
  • Use Zola’s contact collector early — it simplifies everything later.
  • Don’t try to manage your guest list alone.
  • Schedule downtime the week of the wedding (you’ll need it!).
  • And most importantly: be present.

After the “I Do”

Once the big day passed, I realized how meaningful the small details were — things like scent, song, and texture.

I’m even having my bouquet preserved — possibly pressed and framed or cast in resin — as a keepsake to remember that feeling forever.

It’s the perfect reminder that beauty doesn’t fade; it just transforms.

Final Thoughts

Planning our wedding wasn’t just about creating a beautiful event — it was about creating space for joy, for connection, and for the people we love most.

Mexico City gave us history, charm, and heart.
Palacio Metropolitano gave us our setting.
But love — our families, our friends, and each other — gave it life.

If you’re a bride-to-be, my best advice is simple:
✨ Don’t aim for perfection — aim for presence.

Montauk’s Calling. Are You Packed Yet?

There’s summer—and then there’s Montauk in the summer. Whether you’re planning a stylish weekend out East or spontaneous getaway, this one’s for you. From daytime padel matches and golden hour beach clubs to shopping hidden gems and devouring the freshest lobster rolls, this is your complete Hamptons travel and style guide.

Spoiler: we stayed at the effortlessly cool Montauk Beach House, and yes—outfit planning was part of the fun.

Getting to Montauk

Getting there is part of the adventure. Most visitors fly into JFK, LaGuardia (LGA), or Long Island MacArthur (ISP)and make their way out to Montauk by car or LIRR (Long Island Rail Road). If you’re already in the Hamptons, Montauk is the final stop—and worth every mile for a true coastal escape.

What to Wear in the Hamptons

1. Beach Club Looks That Turn Heads

Pack flowy linen sets, elevated swimwear, and a statement cover-up for Gurney’s, Montauk Yacht Club, or Surf Lodge. Think: Dissh, a DeMellier woven bag, and oversized sunglasses.

2. Lobster Roll Lunch Style

Go breezy and effortless for Lunch (yes, the iconic one from The Affair), Duryea’s, or Clam Bar. A crisp Polo Ralph Lauren sundress and leather sandals will never steer you wrong.

3. Padel Game Ready

Courtside chic is in. An earth-toned athleisure set, statement sunglasses, and a sporty bun complete the look. Bonus points for a visor or silk scarf.

4. Shopping + Strolling

A fitted bodysuit and wide-leg denim, or a two-piece set with low block heels, will take you from Amagansett boutiques to in-town pop-ups in style.

5. After-Dark Dancing

When the sun goes down, it’s time for something sleek. Think silky minis, metallic accents, or a bold linen two-piece paired with a structured clutch and a spritz of your go-to scent.

The Beaches, Boutiques, Restaurants & Bonfires I Return to Year After Year.

Let Me Tell You a Little Love Story

It started in 2020… yep, that year. Our family and friends had plans to summer in Portugal, but — cue global pandemic. Instead of skipping vacation altogether, a friend casually mentioned we should check out a beach town called Seaside in Florida, and I fell into a Google rabbit hole. What I found? A coastal dream I somehow hadn’t met yet.

This stretch of Florida’s Emerald Coast, also known as 30A, is made up of several thoughtfully designed beach towns. Each one offers something a little different: quiet luxury, charming walkability, boutique shopping, and some of the dreamiest sunsets you’ll ever see.

Whether it’s your first visit or your fifth, this is the 30A travel guide I wish someone had handed me years ago. I’ve experienced every single recommendation firsthand—so rest assured, you’re in good hands.

What Is 30A?

Scenic Highway 30A is a coastal route tucked between Destin and Panama City Beach, Florida. Along it, you’ll find a series of beautifully designed beach communities, each with its own look, pace, and personality. Some are more family-focused; others are designed for slow mornings, golden hour shopping, or rooftop cocktails.

They’re all connected by biking trails and a laid-back energy. You can stay in one town and explore them all.

Seaside

Classic, Photogenic, and Unmistakably Charming

Seaside is the town that started it all for me—and it’s still one of my favorites. Pastel cottages, white picket fences, and beach pavilions make it feel like a postcard. It’s also where The Truman Show was filmed. You can even bike past the iconic Truman Show house at 31 Natchez Street. (Snap a pic. Pretend you’re in the movie. No shame.)

This town features nine stunning beach pavilions, each with its own architectural style. They line the Gulf like little art installations—perfect for golden hour photos.

Must-Do’s in Seaside:

  • Bud & Alley’s – Rooftop views + sunset cocktails = instant favorite
  • The Meltdown on 30A – Gourmet grilled cheese with a cult following
  • Modica Market – Local goods, chilled wine, and charming provisions
  • Sundog Books – One of my favorite indie bookstores
  • Nigel’s Bananas – Chocolate-dipped frozen bananas + classic beach-day sweets
  • Black Bear Coffee Bar – Low-key pastries, great coffee, and air conditioning
  • The Seaside Style – You have to grab a signature sweatshirt or tee

Boutique to Know:

Cabana by The Seaside Style – Vacation-ready brands like Cleobella, Ramy Brook, Agua Bendita, Ancient Greek Sandals, Mignonne Gavigan, and Chan Luu.

Don’t Miss:

  • Mr. Cabana Man – The dream team behind Seaside’s iconic striped umbrellas. Includes beachside food + drink service. Pro tip: Book early and request the central Seaside Pavilion for the best view.
  • 30A Blaze – Book a private bonfire on the beach. It’s nostalgic, cozy, and pure magic

WaterColor

Spacious, Peaceful, and Elevated Without Feeling Fussy

WaterColor is perfect if you’re looking for a slower pace and family-friendly vibes. With wide bike paths, a nature preserve, and its own Beach Club, it’s designed for long days and easy evenings.

Daily Favorites:

  • Fish Out of Water – Elevated Gulf-front dining
  • Wine World – Casual, curated wine bar
  • The Boathouse – Rent paddleboards or kayaks and explore the coastal dune lakes
  • Camp WaterColor – A dream setup for families (lazy river, splash pad, slides)

Morning Rituals:

  • Beach Happy Café – Smoothies, acai bowls, and chill breakfast vibes
  • Amavida Coffee Roasters – Organic coffee with a mission (also in Seaside & Rosemary)

If you love starting your day with intention, check out our Sunday Slowdown wellness playlist + June favorites for more cozy recs.

Alys Beach

Minimalist Elegance Meets Mediterranean Daydream

With whitewashed buildings, arched corridors, and bougainvillea-covered courtyards, Alys Beach feels like a Greek coastal town. It’s luxurious without being loud, peaceful without being sleepy. This is the town for linen dresses, long walks, and aperitifs under the palms.

Must-Visit in Alys:

  • The Citizen – Fresh coastal fare in a chic setting
  • Raw & Juicy – Smoothies, juices, and light eats in a design-forward courtyard
  • NEAT Bottle Shop – Wine tastings + design inspo in one
  • Fonville Press – Coffee in the morning, tapas by sunset
  • O-Ku – Sophisticated sushi in a moody, beachy space—ideal for date night

Planning a girls’ trip? Don’t miss our Sedona Spring Equinox travel recap—perfect for inspiration on stylish, soulful getaways.

Note: Golf carts are not allowed in Alys Beach. But trust me—you’ll want to walk. Every corner is aesthetic.

Rosemary Beach

Elegant, European-Inspired, and Endlessly Photogenic

Rosemary Beach is a timeless escape. With cobblestone streets, gas lanterns, and Dutch West Indies-style architecture, it feels like a European getaway. It’s where I go to slow down, dress up, and wander with no agenda.

Elevated Favorites:

  • Pescado – Rooftop dining + Gulf views + next-level cocktails
  • La Crema – Tapas, wine, and sipping chocolate—cozy and indulgent
  • The Pearl Hotel – Grab a drink or just take in the stunning interiors
  • Havana Beach Bar – Southern charm meets coastal cuisine

Morning Staples:

  • Amavida Coffee – Same great coffee, different beautiful backdrop
  • Charlie’s Delights – Coffee, ice cream, baked goods. A hidden gem
  • Sugar Shak – Candy and nostalgia wrapped in one

Pro tip: Rosemary doesn’t allow golf carts, which only adds to its European charm.

Final Tips for Your 30A Trip:

  • Book early – Chairs, rentals, dinner resos—get ahead of it
  • Golf carts are gold – Especially in Seaside and WaterColor
  • Pack layers – Think linen by day, light jackets by night
  • Never skip sunset – It’s the 30A way. Plan around it

Why I Keep Coming Back

What started as a pandemic pivot has become our family’s favorite tradition. Each year, 30A feels more familiar—and somehow, more magical.

From the architecture to the slow mornings, long beach days, and barefoot evenings with our best friends and little ones, this place has become part of my soul.

Looking for more travel tips with heart? Read our Mexico City itinerary — it’s packed with local gems and meaningful moments.

If you’re headed to 30A for the first time, I hope this guide brings you a little inspiration.
And if you’ve been before… well, you already know.

I’ve always been obsessed with French culture—romantic films, effortless fashion, pastries for breakfast, and the kind of elegance that feels lived-in, not forced. So when it came time to plan my bachelorette weekend, I knew exactly where I wanted to go: St. Tropez.

It’s my first time visiting the Côte d’Azur, and I already know it’s going to be unforgettable. From vineyard tastings and vintage markets to designer pop-ups and golden-hour dinners, this weekend is all about celebrating friendship, freedom, and life’s chicest moments.

What to Pack for St. Tropez

  • Crisp white linens + neutral daytime sets
  • A silky dress for dinner (or dancing)
  • Oversized sunglasses + gold hoops
  • A swimsuit that makes you feel main character
  • Raffia tote, sunhat, and a breezy cover-up
  • A light sweater for terrace nights
  • Espadrilles or stylish flats for exploring

Mexico City completely stole my heart. I’ve traveled to a lot of places, but this vibrant, chaotic, soulful city is truly one of a kind. It has European charm, rich culture, and incredible food—all just a quick three-hour flight from Miami. From the boho brunches of Roma to the leafy streets of Condesa, every neighborhood feels like its own little world waiting to be explored.

What made my experience even more special was that I got to live in Mexico City thanks to Remote Year—a program that created month-long “work abroad” experiences during the pandemic. Think study abroad…but for adults, with jobs. They set us up with apartments, coworking spaces (complete with private phone booths and meeting rooms), and curated activities to explore after work and on weekends. It made me realize: life doesn’t have to feel ordinary at home either. I can visit that local museum after work or take a mini road trip on weekends. Magic is a mindset.

As a born-and-raised Miami girl, I had always dreamed of living in another city, soaking in the culture, and making lifelong memories. Thanks to Remote Year, I finally lived that dream. (Sadly, the program has since closed, but our incredible group leader now offers similar experiences independently—check them out here! ✈️)

Living solo in CDMX changed me. There’s something powerful about having your own time and space to explore, wander, and grow. I’m forever grateful for that season.

And the story doesn’t end there—years later, after getting engaged, the very first place I wanted to share with my fiancé was Mexico City. I immediately asked him to go with me—and now, we’re planning our wedding at Palacio Metropolitano in the heart of the historic district. We can’t wait to celebrate our special day surrounded by so much beauty, history, and heart. 🤍

Now, I’m sharing my favorite go-to spots, best bites, and magical escapes so you can experience the magic too.

¡Viva México! 🇲🇽

We arrived on the first day of spring equinox, March 21, making this trip feel extra special from the start. I escaped to Sedona for a 72-hour girls’ getaway to celebrate a very special birthday milestone — one that was as soul-nourishing as it was scenic. It was a true reset for the body, mind, and spirit.

Day 1: Arrival, Red Rocks & Reset

We landed at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and picked up our rental car for the scenic two-hour drive north. As the desert unfolded before us, so did the shift — away from the noise and toward stillness.

First stop: The Vault — a stunning lunch spot with handcrafted cocktails and panoramic red rock views that made us feel instantly grounded.
From there, we checked into the breathtaking Enchantment Resort, nestled in the heart of Boynton Canyon, one of Sedona’s most powerful energy vortex sites. After a quick tour of the expansive property via golf cart (yes — you can call the front desk anytime to request one), we settled into our cozy casita. Every detail felt designed with intention: a crackling fireplace, a private terrace perfect for morning coffee, and even a mini flashlight waiting on the nightstand for early adventures.

That evening, I visited Mii Amo Spa, Sedona’s renowned wellness sanctuary. The spa had everything to offer, but their Desert Mist treatment is a must. It’s a body renewal experience that includes a full exfoliation, nourishing wrap, and healing massage. We also explored the Crystal Grotto, a peaceful dome designed for grounding and intention-setting. Surrounded by earth, crystals, and stillness, the desert was already working its magic.

We ended the day with a dreamy dinner at Che Ah Chi, the resort’s signature restaurant, where we toasted to the energy we’d felt and the memories we were beginning to create.

Day 2: Vortexes, Intentions & Sacred Land

We started our morning with the “Explore Sedona’s Vortexes: 2.5 Hour Jeep Tour of Mysticism” — and what a ride. Our guide, Joe, took us through Sedona’s rugged beauty and into a deeply spiritual experience.

We had rare access to Rachel’s Knoll, located within the private Seven Canyons Golf Club. A quiet hilltop with 360° views of the red rocks, it felt like a hidden sky temple — perfect for quiet reflection.

Next, we visited the Amitabha Stupa and Peace Park, a sacred outdoor space built for prayer and meditation. Here, Joe guided us through a Medicine Wheel ritual — walking three circles clockwise with intention. I held my palms downward to the earth and felt two distinct sensations: warmth in my left hand, tingling in my right. Something was definitely moving through me.

Not far from our casita, Joe led us to the iconic Kachina Woman rock formation, said to be the birthplace of Sedona spirituality. Her energy is deeply maternal — perfect for reconnecting with your inner child and feminine side. Joe really set us up to continue exploring on our own for the rest of the weekend — with a deeper sense of awareness and intention. (Tip: twisted juniper trees = strong vortex energy!).

After the tour, we made a meaningful stop at the Chapel of the Holy Cross, where I brought back souvenirs for my family — including a cross made from the surrounding rock. As someone keeping a Lenten promise to attend church weekly, this moment felt powerfully aligned.

For lunch, we grabbed a cozy booth at Hudson’s Sedona, where we ordered the kale salad, whipped feta with toasted bread, ranch chicken wings, and a pastrami reuben (calories don’t count when you are on vacay) — truly a meal to hike for! Floor-to-ceiling windows gave us the perfect view of Thunder Mountain — the original one. (Yes, that Thunder Mountain — Walt Disney had a vacation home in Sedona and drew major inspiration from these very views.)

Later that afternoon, we hiked to the Subway Cave — a short (approx. 1.2 miles each way) but moderate trail with a steep, rocky climb to reach the cave. The panoramic views and quiet inside the cave made every step worth it. You could feel the stillness. It humbled you.

We wrapped up the day with a casual but delicious dinner at Tii Gavo, which means “gathering place.” The smash burgers hit the spot, and the firepit under the stars was the coziest ending to a full day.

Day 3: Sunrise & Sweet Goodbyes

We set our alarms for 4:30 AM to be among the first to hike to Devil’s Bridge — a moderate-to-hard trail with an unforgettable reward. We reached the top by sunrise and were the first women to step onto the bridge that day. It was cinematic. Quiet. Sacred.

Along the way, we gathered small rocks and, once we reached the summit, found a quiet spot to set our rock intentions— a grounding ritual to bring home with us.

On the descent, we kept things fun and light — two of us jumped out from behind the bushes to give our girlfriends a little scare (oops… and accidentally startled a sweet couple behind them, too). Worth it for the laughs.

All jokes aside, on the hike back down, I personally felt the most magnetic energy of the entire trip — and strangely, it wasn’t even near a twisted juniper tree. The real lesson? You have to meet the energy with an open heart and mind to truly feel it. I think it was the most relaxed I’d been all weekend, and in that moment, I wholeheartedly felt connected to Mother Earth.

After brunch at the hotel, we changed into wine-tasting mode and spent the afternoon at two dreamy vineyards. We really made our time in Sedona count!

  • Page Springs Cellars – Lush vines, creekside tables, and smooth reds.
  • DA Ranch – A family-owned gem where time slows down. With live music and a wraparound porch, this place is hard to leave — especially with a spring breeze in your hair and a glass in hand.
Before dinner, we made one last memory at Tlaquepaque, Sedona’s open-air arts village. I engraved a love lock ($35) with a personal message. No key. Just a forever memory clipped to a chain of others like it.
We ended the night — and our trip — with dinner at Mariposa by Lisa Dahl, watching the sky transform into lilac, pink, and golden hues. The red rocks glowed. We glowed. It was cinematic. Sentimental. Sacred. Make sure to book your table in advance for the unforgettable sunset views. Lastly! I highly recommend you order an Aviation Cocktail, it’s a must try! A good gin drink is hard to come by and Mariposa got it right!

Day 4: Road Trip Vibes

On Monday, we began the drive back to Phoenix but made a quick detour to Jerome, AZ, a historic mining town once known as “The Wickedest Town in the West.”

Jerome is rich in haunted history. We visited:

  • The Jerome Grand Hotel, formerly a hospital and now considered one of the most haunted spots in town – Wes Anderson vibes!
  • The House of Joy, once a brothel, now a quirky art gallery.
  • Mystic shops and galleries, all watched over by dozens of cheeky skeletons placed around town.
You can grab a bite at the iconic Haunted Hamburger — a kitschy, must-visit spot with incredible burgers, ghost stories, and killer views.

Creepy? Yes. Cool? Definitely. It was the perfect little thrill before heading back to reality.
