How I Actually Balance It All: Life at 30 in Miami
From corporate job to side hustle, fitness, travel, and love — here’s how I stay grounded in a city that never slows down.
Turning 30 feels like stepping into a new era — one where I finally know who I am, but life demands more than ever. Living in Miami, a city that’s equal parts hustle and vacation, makes this chapter both exhilarating and challenging.
I juggle a corporate job that keeps me in-office Monday through Thursday, prioritize my wellness routine, nurture close relationships, build a small business with my sisters, and travel often with my boyfriend. Sound like a lot? It is — but it’s also fulfilling.
Here’s how I (mostly) keep it all balanced — and even enjoy it.
1. Set Your Non-Negotiables
Before anything else, I had to define what matters most — and protect those priorities like scheduled meetings I won’t cancel. My top four:
- Daily workouts (even a quick 30-minute session)
- Family dinners
- Weekly business check-ins with my sisters
- Quality time with my boyfriend
These non-negotiables help me build structure and prevent burnout. Everything else flows around them.
2. Lean Into a Structured Workweek
Working in the office Monday through Thursday gives me a rhythm I’ve grown to love. I treat those days like productivity sprints — early workouts, packed lunches, minimized distractions.
That way, by Friday, I have space for personal errands, creative work, or travel prep. A lighter Friday clears space for passion projects or a spontaneous escape.
3. Make Fitness Part of Your Lifestyle
I’m not training for a marathon — I just want to feel good. My go-to workouts are Pilates, strength training, and long walks by the water.
Living in Miami helps — there’s something about the sunshine and ocean breeze that naturally motivates movement. I treat workouts like meetings: if it’s on my calendar, it’s happening.
4. Stay Connected Without Burning Out
Relationships matter to me, even with a full calendar. The key? Intentional planning.
- Scheduled date nights
- Family brunches
- Catch-up walks with friends
- Group chats that bridge the gaps
Our family business, Courtside Social, has also become a beautiful way to stay connected with my sisters through collaboration.
5. Build the Business Slowly but Surely
Starting a side business while working full-time is no small feat. My sisters and I are building Courtside Social, a court-sport lifestyle brand — and while our big vision fuels us, we’ve learned that progress is about small, consistent steps.
We:
- Divide and conquer
- Keep meetings focused
- Celebrate small wins
Consistency > perfection. Some weeks move faster than others — and that’s okay.
6. Make Space for Travel — Without Guilt
Traveling with my boyfriend is one of my favorite ways to reset. Whether we’re island hopping or taking a weekend road trip, I plan ahead so I can be fully present.
My travel checklist:
- Notify my work team early
- Prep business content in advance
- Clear my calendar for re-entry
With a little planning, I can enjoy time away without stress or guilt.
7. Don’t Strive for Perfect Balance
Balance is a moving target. Some weeks feel like a win; others are pure survival mode. And that’s real life.
The biggest lesson in my 30s so far? Give yourself grace. Let go of “all or nothing” — and just keep showing up. Life doesn’t need to be perfect to be good.
Final Thoughts
Life at 30 in Miami — with a 9-to-5, a startup, workouts, relationships, and travel dreams — is a whirlwind. But it’s also deeply fulfilling.
If you’re in this season too, just remember: it’s okay to do a lot, as long as you’re doing it your way. Build a life that lights you up, stay grounded in what matters, and don’t forget to enjoy the ride.
